Charmes Chambertin, Domaine Claude Dugat 2006

Tasting Notes

A complete and wonderfully complex and equally perfumed nose features ripe red berry aromas along with subtle earth, anise and iron hints that precede the layered fresh, sweet and palate staining flavors that are quite serious and structured, indeed there is at present a chewy texture to the lingering finish. I also like the fresh and bright acidity that gives a sense of relief and detail to the notably rich mid-palate. In sum, a wine of power and grace.

Full red-ruby. Sexy aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, minerals and violet. Wonderfully precise and vibrant, with terrific cut to its intense flavors of dark berries and violet. But this infant is still youthfully tight and bound-up. A bit rounder on the back end, finishing with excellent grip and length and a lingering hint of licorice.
