Tasting Notes

Well made, more medium bodied than full, with a relatively precocious/evolved personality, the 1987 Yquem shows notes of buttered hazelnuts, crème brûlée, smoke, and peach jam. it is medium bodied, moderately sweet, but showing evidence of approaching full maturity. Anticipated maturity: now-2020.

Robert Parker, Bordeaux Book (4), December 2003

The 1987, from a difficult vintage, is a medium-weight d'Yquem, with enticing oaky, tropical fruit aromas, but the unctuosity and profound depth of flavor so obvious in top years are not present. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010. Last tasted, 1/93.
