Tasting Notes

Showing better than it did from cask, this soft, generous, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2007 exhibits sweet black currant fruit intermixed with cedar, roasted herbs, and subtle smoke. Round, hedonistic, and already complex, this blend of 73.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26.5% Merlot should drink well for 12-15 years. Drink 2010-2025.

A bit angular, with licorice, tobacco and berry character. Tar too. Medium-to-full body, firm tannins and a medium finish. Slightly hollow midpalate

James Suckling, WineSpectator.com, April 2008

Deep ruby. Strong mineral element on the nose, which also shows some ripe fruit. Round and flattering. Quite a fruit bomb! Very supple with pretty refined fruit. This could be a good buy…for early drinking. Drink 2011-18

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, April 2008

(a 73.5/26.5 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot) Good deep ruby-red. Crushed cassis, licorice, mint and violet on the rather cool nose. Then fairly round and moderately sweet in the middle palate, but with a slightly peppery quality to the dark berry, mineral and dark chocolate flavors. Finishes with surprising subtle persistence and slightly edgy tannins.

Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar, June 2008

Dense colour, pronounced Cabernet Sauvignon nose, slightly smoky, even leathery fruit, density of fruit, elegance over power, but power is there. Drink 2013-22.4 stars.
