Tasting Notes

James Suckling, WineSpectator.com, February 2008

Medium to deep straw-gold in color, the 2005 Doisy-Vedrines slips sensuously out with notions of lemon drops, dried pineapple, and lime leaves plus hints of allspice, honey toast, and praline. The palate is still very fruity and youthful with profound tropical and preserved citrus fruit layers and a lively line to support, finishing epically long and spicy.

Tasted blind. Deep orange. Massively rich and opulent but not that sweet. Exciting tension and something mossy about it. Really interesting with great undertow, though it’s not as persistent or as concentrated as I’d like.

Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, March 2017

Again, a good wine from a very consistent producer. There is good, medium weight, concentration and finesse. Persistence of flavour and freshness and style, with a creamy texture as an extra plus. Plenty to enjoy here. 4 stars

Dried pineapples with honey and flowers. Full-bodied and medium-sweet, with fresh acidity and a spicy finish.

Some sulfides on the nose suppress the aromas. Very, very sweet palate entry and then lime green fruit sensation. Lots here - a very ambitious wine that is nowhere near ready. Needs lots of time. Drink 2018-30
