Tasting Notes

A deep black/garnet colour. The nose is very pure with blackberry, raspberry leaf. Quite broody and backward. The palate has firm tannins, a little austere with a touch of dark chocolate on the mid-palate. Good definition, masculine and a little disjointed at the moment but will obviously meld together in barrel. Tannic finish: needs time. Tasted April 2007.

10,500 bottles produced. 100% Merlot from gravely clay soils.
Mid crimson. Quite opulent on the nose though a firm spine. Chewy. Then very sandy dry tannins on the finish. Far from charming. Very dry and severe in fact. Austere though quite persistent finish.
