Pommard Rugiens, Domaine de Montille 2001

As would be expected, this is bigger, more robust and more expressive than the understated style of the Pézerolles yet there is a subtle complexity to the relatively powerful, wonderfully persistent Rugiens. I very much like the character and precision. Long time fans of the de Montille Rugiens will perhaps not find the usual size and weight but you will find greater elegance and precision. If this adds additional weight with bottle age, it should merit the upper end of the range.
