Tasting Notes

A strong effort from Jean-Luc Thunevin, Clos Badon’s 2005 displays plenty of cassis fruit, black cherries, licorice and underbrush. It is full-bodied, approachable and opulent, nicely textured, pure, long and fruit-driven. This is a big wine (larger-framed than usual) and best drunk over the next 12-15+ years. Drink 2015-2030.

Slightly pale crimson at the rim. Interesting, refreshing, clean, 50 per cent Cabernet Franc, 50 per cent Merlot - near Pavie. Very fresh and lively. Very complete, fresh and silky. Lively and charming. Clean and neat. Long. Property bought by Jean-Luc Thunevin in 1998. Drink 2010-22

A sexy sleeper of the vintage from St.-Emilion, the 2005 Clos Badon boasts a dense ruby/purple color as well as aromas of charcoal, espresso roast, sweet currants and cherries, and a touch of incense. A broad, endearing, seductive mouthfeel, medium to full body, and no hard edges suggest it can be enjoyed now and over the next 10-12 years

One of Jean-Luc Thunevin’s exceptionally well-made offerings, the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2005 Clos Badon exhibits notes of chocolate, espresso roast, sweet currants, and blueberries. Pure, rich, and medium-bodied, with fresh acidity as well as ripe tannin, it will drink beautifully for 12-15 years.

Aromas of coffee and berry. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long finish. Impressive. Balanced. 2000 in the remake.
