Meursault Goutte d'Or, Domaine d'Auvenay 2005

A seriously reduced nose even with extended aeration showed no signs of the underlying fruit. The broad-shouldered flavors are immensely rich and concentrated the dry extract almost assaults the palate as it simultaneously pushes the firm acid spine to the background on the intensely saline and hugely long finish. This is a most impressive wine for its sheer scale yet it's not clear that the nose will ever clear up and I have my doubts that it will and hence my question mark on the rating.
