Pale lemon yellow, with a lightly honeyed aspect to the nose, but appealing fruit beneath. A scintillating burst of fruit on the palate, notable for the intensity of the pure lemon fresh fruit, quite high octane for sure, but with the fruit in the ascendancy. Exceptionally long finish. Overall the tension is enough to match the weight of the wine.
Less funky than many young wines from this Grand Cru, with the flinty character we associate with Bâtard. Very serious structure on the full-bodied palate. Builds to an imposing and finely nuanced finish that may be too radical for some, but excites us. Drink or hold.
