From a northeast-facing site, located between Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Adrien Dhondt’s 2020 Blanc de Blancs Oger Les Plantes d’Oger is showing very well. Disgorged in April 2024 with one gram per liter dosage, it unfurls from the glass with aromas of green apple, honeysuckle, lime and pear. With fruit of crystalline purity, taut musculature and laden with electric acids driving it to a long, searingly chalky finish, it’s a tensile expression of Oger. Compact and linear, with lots of dry extract, it will delight purists. This is one of three wines (from the 2020 vintage) from a small négociant project under Adrien Dhondt’s own name where each wine has a production of 1,276 to 1,984 bottles, in other words, very little to go around.
