Sullivans Cove is the spot where the British first established the settlement that would grow into the City of Hobart, Tasmania. Being a penal colony, the locals were quite fond of a drink with 16 legal distilleries and countless illegal stills operating by 1824. However, in 1838 Governor John Franklin imposed a total prohibition on distilling that lasted 150 years and was only overturned in the early 1990s! Sullivans Cove has since won several prestigious awards, the most recent of which was The World's Best Single Malt Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards 2014 for their French Oak Whisky.

Tasting Notes

NOSE: Vanilla driven perfume, floral fruit, soft spice and cloves. PALATE: Soft, creamy, well structured and balanced. Herbal, then some spices and honey. English candy notes and a hint of pear. FINISH: Well-rounded fruity finish of a medium length with hints of honey and milk chocolate.

Quote from the distillery:
The best of both worlds come together in this exceptionally easy to drink single malt. Made up of 40% French Oak and 60% American Oak, this is a delicious whisky that fits in as easily around the BBQ on a Sunday afternoon as it does in front of a fire with a cigar. Non-chill filtered and a truly delightful introduction to our range and to Tasmanian single malt in general.
