In 2019 Jean-Marie Guffens made some 3 litre jeroboams across the cream of his Verget range. These were bottled exclusively for Farr Vintners and none will be available in the 2020 vintage.
2019 was an excellent yet small vintage – yields were about half what they were in 2018 or 2020. We shipped these wines just over a year ago and they are all now drinking exceptionally well, though in this format they are well worth putting to the cellar for a couple more years (Jean-Marie would likely say five more).
Our selection from Verget really is a giant-killler. These wines will all hold their own and more against much grander names from the Côte d’Or, and in jeroboam format they are hugely impressive at the table.
We have just two wines remaining: the hugely popular St Véran, Lieu Interdit (90 points, Wine Advocate) – drink or hold - and the excellent Pouilly-Fuissé Les Combes (93 points, Wine Advocate), again - drink or hold.
Neither of these wines will fail to impress, and the bottles themselves are a sight to behold.
