Another Magnificent 2015 Margaux - The Greatest Siran Ever Made!

The more that we taste the 2015 vintage from Margaux, the more we believe that it is one of the greatest ever vintages for this appellation.

Château Margaux itself has rocketed in price and would now set you back at least £10,000 per dozen, but the wines of some of its near-neighbours are still available at more modest prices.

The best bargain of all the 2015 Margaux wines that we've found is Château Siran. This is, without doubt, the greatest vintage of Siran that we have ever tasted – and the critics agree!

James Suckling proclaims it is "the best ever" while Jeff Leve states "there is no better wine for the money from the Margaux appellation than the 2015 Château Siran".

This property has been owned for many years by the Miailhe family who used to be proprietors of Pichon Lalande and part-owners of Palmer. Those châteaux have been sold, but they have kept hold of Siran and there have been great investments and improvements here in recent years.

We can strongly recommend this classic Margaux for drinking soon and over the next 10, or even 20 years.

Beautiful dark and bright fruits with blackberry, blueberry and licorice aromas that follow through to a full body and round and lightly chewy tannins. Gorgeous texture. A long and flavorful finish. All here. Best ever. Drink in 2022.

94 points, James Suckling,

A deep ruby colour and evocative, ripe nose of red cherries, currants and toasted spices. The palate is plump and round on entry, with all the succulent red and black fruits you would expect from a 2015 Margaux, laced with exotic nutmeg and clove spice. The tannins are chalky and still firm, bolstering the structure of the wine and giving a savoury edge. This is youthful and primary at this stage and warrants decanting and food if drinking now. With 2-3 years' of bottle age this will prove to be a fleshy, pure and sophisiticated Margaux, the long finish highlighting good longevity for this wine. The finest Siran that we have ever tasted.
