Rivesaltes, Riveyrac 1988

Tasting Notes

A blend of 60% red and 40% white grapes, the 1988 Rivesaltes has a mature tawny color right to the core. It has a lively, oxidative nose, like a feisty, fluid Madeira transitioning between Verdelho and Bual. The palate is very smooth and has much less heaviness than you would think (in fact, it is probably the easiest drinking, most approachable Riveyrac that I have encountered). I love the tang of peppermint and Sichuan pepper on the finish and the freshly shaved ginger on the aftertaste. Very elegant. Drink 2017-2037.

Pale tawny with a greenish rim. Vanilla and caramel on the nose. Macerated prune flavours. A bit hot on the end. Sweet and very slightly syrupy.
Drink 2018-2030
