Gevrey Chambertin Cazetiers, Domaine Bruno Clair 2014

Tasting Notes

**Note: from 40+ year old vines from a parcel that measures .87 ha**
A completely different aromatic profile is present here with its emphatically sauvage-inflected nose of dark berries, underbrush and pungent earth. There is notably more volume and muscle if a bit less minerality on the powerful and driving mid-palate that gracefully gives way to a serious, concentrated and mouth coating finale. This textbook example of Cazetiers is not one to buy absent having the express intention of cellaring it for at least a decade.

Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1Er Cru Cazetiers has a powerful bouquet with plenty of black cherry, sous bois and subtle licorice notes emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, quite backward, but for a Cazetiers, there is serious substance here, smooth and harmonious toward the finish and very persistent on the aftertaste. Give this several years in bottle and you will have a superb Cazetiers, one of the best this vintage. Chapeau, Bruno! Tasted September 2017. Drink Date 2022 - 2040
