Still a bit cloudy, the 2015 Forster Pechstein Riesling trocken GG offers the reduced, extraordinarily deep, pure, complex and flinty stone powder bouquet of a serious Grand Cru. The fruit is perfectly ripe and intertwined with the mineral aromas and there is nothing round or dominant here. It is pure, clear, rich and powerful. This is an incredible new dimension for German Riesling brought by Mathieu Kauffmann, an Alsatian who got famous in Champagne. This Pechstein is so tightly woven, so pure, elegant and piquant. It is so rich, ripe and concentrated, but all is in balance... it flows, touches, hooks up into your mucosa and remains, remains, remains; it only gets softer, more generous and lush, and less merciless. If this wine goes in the bottle like this, it will become one of the greatest dry German Rieslings of the young century. This is Riesling that Riesling lovers have to buy. This is a monument of dry Pfalz Riesling.
