The 2010 Barolo Mosconi, the estate's first wine from this south-facing site in Monforte, is showing beautifully today. In this cold, late-ripening vintage, the south exposition and richness typical of this site give the Mosconi a level of mid-palate pliancy and richness the other 2010 Barolos don't have. Mosconi has never given Barolos of finesse or elegance, but this is just about as good as it gets.
The 2010 Barolo Mosconi has a broader, flatter aromatic quality with an elegant bouquet derived from mineral-rich limestone soils. This vineyard was purchased in 2009. What sets the Barolo Mosconi apart is the tannic structure of wine that really takes its up a notch in terms of strength, muscle and endurance. You can almost feel it snap in the mouth and the wine will endure in time. Drink: 2017-2035.
