***from a .24 ha mix of terres rouges and terres blanches but with a bit more of the former***
Copious wood influence all but drowns out the menthol and plum liqueur aromas. This is a big wine with exceptional richness, concentration and muscle where superb mid-palate density helps to persuade that the wood has a reasonably good chance of being successfully integrated over time. This isn't quite as complex as the Clos de Vougeot but it is every bit as long. My range offers the benefit of the doubt that the wood will not be an issue as this ages. Drink: 2027+
(100% vendange entier; vinified in a wood vat): Deep red-ruby. Musky dark raspberry, mocha, pepper and herbs on the nose. Creamy-sweet and plush in the mouth, with deep flavors of blueberry and Belgian dark chocolate dominating. Prost insists that this wine is dry, but notes that it finished its alcoholic fermentation in barrels, which gave it more glycerol. One of three of the barrels was new but only for the first three months.
