Tasting Notes

Beautiful nose of blueberries and minerals with hints of flowers. Full body, with a lovely core of fruit and a silky finish. From the owner of Leoville Poyferre. Try after 2018.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, February 2012

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot, this has a very ripe, somehow rather airy notes that seems to float along the ether. Mouth-coating tannins, very ripe and rounded, quite opulent with a touch of spice, dark vibrant black fruits interwoven with black plum and cassis, leading to a well-defined, peppery finish. Very fine.

Very dark purplish crimson. Thick and dense but with confidence and verve. Not easy sweet points-scoring. Very youthful. Complete. Serious!

There's sweet dark fruit underneath but quite a bit of char on the top. Pushed quite far so the finish is slightly aggressive, almost over-concentrated but maybe it just needs a lot more time.

Deep ruby colour, with a ripe nose of blueberry, damson, blackcurrant and a little vanilla. The palate is smooth, rich and ripe with layers of ripe black fruits and a little spice. The silky texture from the ripe tannin and gylcerol-rich fruit make this a juicy, plump style with a retained backbone of cassis fruit. The finish is long and spicy. A sumptuous and moreish wine.
