Tasting Notes

A sleeper of the vintage, this sexy, charming, Burgundian-styled wine offers fleshy black cherry notes intermixed with camphor, flowers, and pain grille. Supple tannin, velvety texture, and luscious aromatics as well as flavors result in an alluring claret to drink over the next 12-14 years.

A very good red, with plum and berry character and good tannins. Medium-bodied. Could be the best La Lagune since 2000

Very dark. Strong, rather tarry, statement on the nose with some sweetness. Then round, surprisingly supple palate impression followed by some very dry, austere tannins. Not quite enough fruit concentration unfortunately. Will probably always be just a little too severe, and I could do with slightly more freshness.

This surprisingly dense, powerful yet elegant effort should be even better than the 2003. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by beautiful aromas of spring flowers interwoven with sweet black cherries, currants, new oak, and spice. With a lovely texture, medium to full body, gorgeous fruit purity, and a charming tactile impression, this elegant as well as powerful claret should age gracefully for 15+ years.
