Gevrey Chambertin Champeaux, Domaine Tawse 2019

Tasting Notes

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru includes 20% whole bunch, harvested on September 22 (a little earlier than the négociant) and aged in 40% new oak. It has a fresh, exuberant bouquet of far more Pinoté than the négociant example, bunches of rose petals and peony emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple pure red berry fruit, a keen thread of acidity and more matière on the finish. Very elegant and refined. This should age well over the next 20 years.

Picked on 22nd September at 13.6%, and made with 20% whole bunches and 50% new wood. One of the pale colours but vibrant. Very perfumed, this is the elegant side of Gevrey. Pure and poised, with a sweetness of oak which is in harmony. Long fine and sensual.
