Mild reduction compresses the fruit though it definitely seems ripe. There is a lovely mouth feel to the fresh, elegant and admirably pure middle weight flavors that are shaped by fine-grained tannins on the complex and well-balanced finish. While this should reward 5 to 8 years of cellaring it should also be approachable young. Drink: 2019+
Note: from a mix of Les Jacquines, Champs Perdrix, Hautes-Maizières and Les Vigneux
The 2013 Vosne-Romanée from Domaine Georges Noëllat is another very strong villages, with a more black fruity personality than the fine Nuits AC in this vintage. The lovely nose wafts from the glass in a precise blend of black cherries, sweet dark berries, cocoa, Vosne spices, dark soil tones, game and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, fullbodied, tangy and a bit more reserved in personality out of the blocks than the Nuits, with a lovely core of fruit, fine-grained tannins, fine soil inflection and a long, tangy and very promising finish. A lovely example. 2020-2045+.
