The Chevaliers de Védrines owned this château for centuries until it was acquired by the family of the current owners - the Castéja family - in the mid 19th Century. The 35 hectares of vines are planted with 80% Sémillon, 15% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle. Barrel ageing for 18 months in 40-60% new oak.
A bright, fresh Sauternes without a lot of weight, but some attractive honey, sliced-apple and pear character. Medium-sweet. Fresh finish.
The 2022 Doisy-Vedrines is a blend of 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. Pale to medium straw in color, it sashays out of the glass with drop-dead gorgeous notes of lemon drops, lime blossom, mandarin peel, and fresh pineapple, plus underlying suggestions of chalk dust and coriander seed. The palate is super intense, with wonderful tension cutting through the citrus and spice layers, finishing with fantastic length.
Intense sunflower colour, with fig and dried apricot on the nose. The Castéja family have teased impressive freshness out of the richness of this wine, giving edges of lime zest to the silky, concentrated fruits and textures which are found in all the sweet wines in 2022. Harvest October 2 to 28, 4 selections, 8hl/h. There was no production in 2021 on this wine after the frost. Tasted twice.
