Tasting Notes

This sample is from a one-year old barrel although the final wine with have 40% new. There are lovely fresh cherries and raspberry on the nose, quite floral, with hints of rose petals coming through. There is a lot of freshness on the palate, real sense of energy and great tension/definition. Dark red-berries, redcurrants, a hint of blueberry with a touch of liquorices on the dry finish. Very fine.

Dark and rich-looking. Big and burly on the nose. Sweet and rich - very flattering yet fresh.Rather simple red fruits. Raw acidity. Very much a second wine.... Pretty angular on the finish.

Denis Durantou's "second wine" is a serious Pomerol in its own right, but at a fraction of the price of Eglise Clinet. Usually the best value wine in Pomerol. The 100% Merlot fruit is harvested from a separate vineyard next to La Grave a Pomerol.
