Blackberries, dark plums, mushrooms, licorice, sandalwood and cigar box on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Structured, with chewy, dark-fruit character and a firm, flavorful finish. Better from 2024.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Les Trois Croix struts out of the glass with confident notes of crushed black plums, ripe blackberries and Morello cherries plus suggestions of Sichuan pepper, woodsmoke and menthol with a touch of wild sage. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of crunchy black fruit with a firm frame of rounded tannins and loads of freshness, finishing long and invigorating.
Not quite as voluptuous as the 2018 at Les Trois Croix, but this is a delicious Fronsac that delivers so much pleasure, and will not need to be set aside for long before being ready to drink. As it opens, black cherry, damson, cocoa bean and caramel notes combine together to make this totally moreish. Love it. 35% new oak, 39hl/ha yield.
