Full and linear with a beautiful line of firm and silky tannins and crushed-stone, blackberry and blueberry undertones. Very pretty second wine. Racy
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 L'Esprit de Chevalier offers up exuberant black cherries, blackberry and warm plums scents with touches of baking spices and tobacco. Medium-bodied, it has a firm, grainy texture and plenty of freshness supporting the generous, juicy black fruit in the mouth, finishing spicy
Mid-deep ruby in the glass, with cool, dark fruits on the nose. There is a hint of earthiness too, adding a savoury complexity. The palate is fresh and fine, with a compact core of dark cherries framed by ripe, chalky tannins. There is a stony, earthy undertone throughout that adds a real layer of intrigue. Pure dark fruits drive the finish, lingering with a hint of sweet spice. This is approachable now with a light decant, but will drink well for 8+ years.
