Nuits St Georges Les Boudots, Domaine Georges Noellat 2012

Tasting Notes

**Note: from a 1.2 ha parcel**
A gorgeously spicy and pungently earthy nose of both red berry fruit and violet scents introduces the supple, succulent and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract that buffers the moderately firm tannins on the persistent finish where a touch of wood surfaces. Not surprisingly this is not as fine as the Petits Monts but its bigger and richer. A qualitative choice even though the two wines are really quite different from one another.

The 2012 Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots comes courtesy of the family's 1.2-hectare of vines. It is extremely well-defined on the nose with dark plum and briary scents tempting you in. The aromatics come across as very natural and more Vosne-like in style that Nuits. The palate boasts a succulent texture, the puppy fat counterpoised with brisk acidity, and it already offers wonderful precision on the finish. Watch this bloom after bottling.

A gorgeously spicy and pungently earthy nose of both red berry fruit and violet scents introduces the supple and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract that buffers the moderately firm tannins on the persistent finish. There is a bit of bitterness but as the tannins appear to be ripe I attribute it to the high level of gas rather than excess extraction of poorly cured wood.
