Bright citrus, honeyed lychee, and tangerine notes emerge from Yves' 2021 Condrieu Les Chaillets, a medium-bodied, beautifully textured, balanced Condrieu. It's tight and slightly closed aromatically, yet it really shines on the palate with its purity, balance, and length.
Tasted blind. Subtle smoke on the nose. The palate has good intensity of peach and apricot with a phenolic weight behind it. There is decent concentration and an oily, broad finish. (AC)
A bright, floral but distinctly Viognier nose from this always-vibrant Condrieu at Cuilleron. There are hints of cream and spice, but this is all about measured typicity. Mineral with waves of wet stone and petrichor underneath peaches and cream, this is layered and silky. Harmonious with just the right intensity and balancing acids, there is depth and richness on the finish. Hints of honey, spice and herbs round things out. A classy Condrieu, fine-boned for the region but all the more drinkable for it. Drink now, or over the next five years.
