Masterpiece in Eight Colours

Karuizawa is the most iconic of all Japanese distilleries. It was in operation between 1956 and 2011 and has been mothballed ever since. Since closing, demand for their whiskies has gone through the roof, with bottles often fetching eye-watering sums at auction.

This limited edition collection is named The Masterpiece in Eight Colours. It is a series of eight different batches from sherry butts, each distilled in 1999/2000 and each with a label in eight different traditional Japanese colours. The calligraphy on each label has been written by renowned Kanji artist Souun Takeda, a cult figure in Japan.
